Gusbourne Vineyard UK

Gusbourne’s vineyards, with 60 hectares, is only a short way outside London. Their selection of sparkling wines is critically acclaimed and sought after, particularly the Blanc de Blancs, with complex notes of citrus fruit, green apple and nectarine with hints of toasted brioche and hazelnut. It is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, which are handpicked and pressed in whole bunches where the juice is allowed to rest naturally for up to 36 hours before the fermentation process begins.

On Friday 5th April, we will kick off proceedings with the BdB, served with oysters and dash of excitement for the evening to follow.

Alistair (known as ‘AJ’) has a great passion for wine, which was sparked during a year abroad in New South Wales, Australia, while studying for his Politics degree. His head was turned by the idea of crafting something from the land – “a true artisan job”.  His wine production qualifications followed, taking him through wineries in New Zealand and USA before returning to the UK and Gusbourne in 2018.

When he is not overseeing secondary wine production; you will find AJ looking after large-scale trials, lees-ageing tasting and blending. At harvest, you’ll find him in the winery working alongside Head Winemaker Mary Bridges assisting with blending and bottling.

Join Tollbua and AJ for an exceptional evening, looking back over the stratospheric rise of English wines, and looking forward to a wonderful winemaker’s dinner.

Limited places available, 2395,- per person including aperitif, menu and wine. Event starts at 7pm (doors open from 4pm).
