Winemaker’s Dinner with Cune 16th April 2026, 7pm
Spain’s finest wines
On this evening, we will be joined by David Piera from Cune, who will guide us through the dinner as we enjoy some of the very best wines Spain has to offer, perfectly matched with specially composed dishes.
You will experience the winery’s refinement firsthand as we enjoy exquisite Cava, elegant and complex white wines from Galicia and Rioja, as well as exceptional red wines – including the single-vineyard wine Contino going back to the 2007 vintage, and Imperial Gran Reserva, the wine that was once named the world’s best wine.
Unwavering quality since 1879
The history of Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, C.V.N.E., began when the Real de Asúa brothers arrived in Haro, in the heart of Rioja, in 1879 and established what would become one of the world’s most historic wineries. This marked the beginning of a family-owned winery that is still run today by the fifth generation of the family.
The first wines produced by CVNE took their name from the winery’s initials. Thanks to what turned out to be a fortunate spelling error, where the letter V was replaced with a U, the iconic Cune wines we know so well were born.
For more than 140 years, the winery has continued to grow and develop. Since its inception, CVNE has always been innovative in both winemaking and production, while maintaining an unwavering focus on quality and respect for tradition. This dedication has resulted in the elegant and rich wines the house is known for, and has helped secure its status as one of Rioja’s shining stars.
CVNE’s strong commitment to quality winemaking has led the group to invest in exceptional vineyards in some of Spain’s very best wine regions. Today, the group owns eight wineries in Spain’s leading wine areas: CVNE, Imperial, Viña Real and Viñedos del Contino in Rioja; Roger Goulart in Penedès; Bela in Ribera del Duero; Virgen del Galir in Valdeorras; and La Val in Rías Baixas.
Each winery delivers the finest wines from its respective region, combining modern winemaking with tradition to create characterful and elegant wines. Among these is the iconic Imperial Gran Reserva, the house’s flagship wine, which was named Wine of the Year in 2013 by Wine Spectator—the first Spanish wine ever to receive this honour. The group also produces Monopole, Spain’s oldest white wine; Contino, Spain’s first single-vineyard wine; and cava from Roger Goulart, a pioneer of traditional sparkling wine production in Spain since 1882.

On Thursday 16th April, David Piera, Export Manager for Cune wines, will be visiting Tollbua in Trondheim.
