Winemaker’s Masterclass with Gramona
On Friday 13 September we will be visited by Andrés Rangel from Gramona; one of Spain’s leading producers of Cava, or ‘Corpinnat’, which is now the correct term for the best examples of this sparkling wine.

Gramona has been producing wine since the beginning of the 19th century and was already well established when phylloxera ravaged the vineyards in neighbouring France. The demand for Spanish wine naturally skyrocketed and Gramona established good contacts in Champagne where they supplied several champagne houses with wine.
The trade was two-way and while Gramona sent sent wine to Champagne, knowledge flowed in the opposite direction. Gramona started producing its own sparkling wine, called Champán de Cava, and quickly became recognised as a producer of the highest quality and elegance.
Today, the house is managed by the fifth generation of the family, elevated by both scientific innovation and biodynamic cultivation.
Their ‘simplest’ of Gramona’s wine is stored for a minimum of three years on lees, corresponding to the requirement for vintage Champagne. All the wines are crisp dry, precise and elegant. Only 3g of sugar is found in any of their wines, which will appeal to sparkling wine connoisseurs and confound Cava critiques in equal measure.
On Friday 13th September, we welcome guests to a special AFTERWORK at Tollbua. There will be several friendly round tables to accommodate you and your colleagues, with a range of wines and selection of tasty snacks adapted to the bubbles. And because it’s Friday, there will also be good music, intermingled with interesting storytelling from Andrés
